AMD officially unveils the second generation of dynamic acceleration of bulldozers

AMD executives recently confirmed that the Bulldozer processor will also support Turbo Core dynamic acceleration technology, similar to the current six-core Phenom II X6 1000T series, with many improvements.

Intel Turbo Boost Turbo Boost technology can reduce or increase the frequency of different cores according to the actual load. Although AMD Turbo Core is not so flexible, it also has the same purpose. The Phenom II X6 1000T series can be accelerated with three cores. Up to 500MHz, and keeping the processor thermal design power consumption no more than the design level, is more suitable for frequency-sensitive applications.

According to AMD, the second-generation Turbo Core technology can better exploit the thermal design power allowable space, automatically adjust the frequency by monitoring the processor power consumption, up to the thermal design power consumption target, and it will be too close again Automatic down-clocking to maximize frequency as power consumption allows.

With all the cores turned on, the maximum acceleration of the Turbo Core of the bulldozer processor can reach 500MHz, which means that even the 16-core top server model can do all the core acceleration at 500MHz at the same time. The rate of greater acceleration can be obtained, but the details are not clear.

John Fruehe, director of marketing for AMD Server, Embedded and FireStream products, explained that in general, power consumption always increases with frequency, but keep in mind that Turbo Core is a very flexible technology. The frequency will be increased based on the overall needs of the system program, and the result will be maximum performance and no energy wastage.

Bulldozer processor will be marked after the announcement of two frequencies, one is the original reference frequency, and the second is the Turbo Core accelerated maximum frequency, which is exactly the same as the Intel Turbo Boost model.
