Infineon dimming ICLED dimming circuit saves 70% of device count and board space

Munich, Germany, May 9, 2016 - Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX/OTCQX: IFNNY) officially released the CDM10V. This compact, highly integrated LED dimming IC allows engineers to replace multiple discrete devices in a traditional dimming solution with one IC. Reduce the number of dimming circuit components and board space by 70%. Infineon's CDM10V is the industry's first single-chip lighting interface IC that converts 0-10V analog inputs into PWM or dimming input signals required by the host IC. This signal is a 5 mA PWM signal transmitted through an optocoupler with a duty cycle range of 0-100%.

The CDM10V can be used in a variety of commercial and industrial LED lighting applications with key parameters for one-time configuration, such as minimum duty cycle (1-10%), PWM output frequency (200Hz-2kHz), dimmer/resistor bias Set current (50?A-500?A) and "dim-to-off" function. In addition, the IC can accept PWM inputs when the "dim-to-off" function is enabled.

The CDM10 is available in a 6-pin SOT package and is ideal for miniaturized PCB designs with high component densities. The Vcc 11~25V supply voltage range ensures compatibility with common LED lighting applications, including slot lights, spotlights, wall lights, office lighting and advertising light boxes. The CDM10V is part of Infineon's portfolio of lighting products, including control ICs and MOSFETs.

Time to market

The Infineon CDM10V is in volume production in April 2016 and is now sampling, demo boards and configuration boards. Infineon will be showcasing the IC at booth 136, LIGHTFAIR, April 26-28, 2016 in San Diego, California.
