Vietnam's power development faces difficulties

According to Vietnam’s “Economic Times” reported on July 26, the Vietnamese government recently approved the “National Power Development Plan for 2030 from 2011 to 2020”. According to the plan, by 2020, the development of Vietnam's power needs 48.8 billion U.S. dollars, and by 2030 it will require 123.8 billion U.S. dollars. Vice Premier Huang Zhonghai of the Vietnamese government stated that under the current global economic and economic difficulties in Vietnam, the biggest problem facing the development of electricity is financing difficulties, followed by the rapid growth in demand and the failure of electricity production. In the next 10 years, Vietnam will need 5 million kilowatts of new installed capacity each year to meet the needs of economic and social development. From the current situation, it is more difficult to achieve this goal, and the shortage of electricity will continue for a long time. Huang Zhonghai stressed that at present, the price of electricity in Vietnam is lower than the actual market price, and the government must provide subsidies. In this context, although private capital is encouraged to participate in power construction, the government still has to play a leading role.
