STMicroelectronics (ST) released a new generation of Bluetooth low energy   (BLE) SOC, for home, shopping, industrial, toys and games, personal care and infrastructure of interconnected smart devices throughout the industry. BLE can be built into all new mobile phones, tablets and computers, wireless technology that allows consumers and any smart device with BLE connectivity to interact. Similarly, service providers can easily connect the device to the cloud end, access to service delivery and data collection.

BLE- connected applications are simple, low-power, and can be used for months to years with a button cell . The new generation BlueNRG-2 chip having a programmable processor high power efficiency and low power consumption, such as super-power standby mode, to fully meet these needs. High RF signal strength to ensure reliable wireless connection. With increased on-chip storage capacity, BLE software and application code do not need to be stored in external memory, simplifying system design.

ST chose ARM The Cortex- M0 core provides low-power, high-efficiency 32 -bit processing performance for the BlueNRG-2 . Other integrated features include encryption processing, power management, clock management, and up to 256KB of flash memory for additional flexibility to handle code and data storage. A plurality of power saving mode, a standby mode current of only 0.5uA, meet the requirements of low power consumption. BLE RF output power + 8dBm, within communication range maximized by avoiding data errors, retries to achieve overall energy. The specified operating temperature of 105 ° C allows for use in a variety of environments including automobiles.

Developers using BlueNRG-2 can also seamlessly interconnect ST MEMS sensor combinations, including market-leading accelerometers, gyroscopes, Magnetic force, inertial navigation unit (an IMU), pressure sensors and other environmental sensors. PDM digital interface can connect MEMS microphone, voice control applications to achieve. The increased memory and efficient core architecture allow the ST Open.MEMS software library to run at low power , and the addition of sensors and software libraries enables developers to implement more advanced features such as gesture recognition and behavior tracking.

The BlueNRG GUI simplifies and optimizes device configuration , setup and testing, and enables developers to get started quickly without the need for any specific RF or BLE skills to implement innovative features. An intuitive graphical interface allows users to complete development in a matter of hours . The BlueNRG-2 Evaluation Kit includes application examples, code snippets and versatile tools for fast coding.

The BlueNRG-2 Evaluation Kit (STEVAL-IDB008V1) contains MEMS sensors, LEDs, buttons and programming interfaces to run the demonstration software provided. The board also comes with an Arduino- compatible connector for additional complex application development by adding additional expansion boards .
