Facebook mainstreams VR and AR as a continuing goal

The annual F8 Developers Conference brings together founders and entrepreneurs on the Facebook platform to showcase the latest products and projects. This year, Zuckerberg once again stepped onto the stage and unveiled the details of a series of new applications from Oculus. However, when it comes to changing about some of the new and interesting details about the upcoming Messenger and Instagram apps, AR has instantly become the focus.

As part of the ongoing closed beta, Facebook has begun allowing specific brands to begin AR filtering on official Messenger smartphone apps. By clicking on a dedicated AR button on the app, you can get a variety of enhancement filters from companies such as Nike, Kia, Sephora and Asus. Sephora's filters let you experiment with different make-up styles and then upload photos or videos to friends and family.

Instagram AR also supports new coatings for AR camera platforms for third-party developers. By leveraging Facebook's AR studio, developers can create a range of interactive camera experiences, including face filtering and more sophisticated "world effects."

At the moment, Snapchat has almost the power of social networking sites, making Facebook a step ahead of this challenge and providing more immersive features for its social apps, which is exciting. This new AR feature has caught the attention of major players such as Ariana Grande, BuzzFeed, Vogue, Baby Ariel, Jiffpom and NBA.

As this new AR app is supported by Facebook's AR Studio, this is definitely something that developers are happy with. These updates include a simplified 3D resource upload system and an ari based application-based parsing tracking system.

Between these new commitments to AR and the high-priced Oculus, Facebook seems to remain committed to the continuation of VR and AR.
