The first 5G base station of Guizhou Unicom was officially opened, and the data was downloaded on the 5G network for the first time at the 2018 Expo. Guizhou Unicom has also joined hands with the Guiyang Municipal Government to establish a joint laboratory for 5G application innovation.

As a fifth-generation mobile communication network, the 5G network has a 10 to 100 times higher transmission rate than the 4G network. The 5G network delay is millisecond, which can meet the response requirements of intelligent traffic and even driverless technology, making unmanned driving possible. The 5G network capacity will be 100 to 1000 times that of 4G and can support massive data links.

Liang Baojun, deputy general manager of China Unicom Group, believes that when 5G arrives, it can effectively save economic costs, serve the society, bring greater production efficiency, and promote the development of a large number of reliability technologies and services, thereby indirectly or directly affecting our life.

Guiyang is one of the 12 cities in which China Unicom deployed a 5G demonstration network nationwide. In order to promote the development of 5G and accelerate the application of emerging technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence, Guizhou Unicom and Guiyang Municipal Government jointly established a joint laboratory for 5G application innovation.

The lab focuses on 5G application innovation, relying on the industrial foundations of cloud computing, big data and Internet of Things in Guizhou Province, researching the top-level design of industrial cooperation and development, exploring innovative business models, and driving the development of industrial clusters and industrial transformation and upgrading. The laboratory will continue to introduce and cultivate innovative teams, focusing on areas such as AR, AI, and ultra-clear video transmission, promoting the development of 5G application innovation technologies, stimulating emerging formats, accelerating the construction of digital Guiyang platforms based on 5G networks, and integrating networks and information. Ecological alliances in data planning and urban component management to create a new industrial chain.

Liang Baojun said that in response to the "China Valley" strategic action call, relying on the "China Valley" industry layout, China Unicom will focus on the integration of industry applications in the Internet of Things, cloud platforms, smart factories, etc., in line with the "digital Guiyang" construction.

At the 2018 number of fairs, China Unicom will showcase emerging technologies and applications such as 5G innovative applications, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and virtual reality, including 5G ice hockey AI and travel planning sandbox mobile AR. 5G ice hockey AI combines the high speed and low delay characteristics of 5G network with artificial intelligence through 5GAI technology, realizing the real-time judgment of the robot goalkeeper on the ice hockey direction, and quickly intercepting the ice hockey to achieve the goalkeeper; the travel planning sandbox mobile phone AR is the basis of the traditional physical sandbox. The virtual Guizhou three-dimensional terrain model dynamically constructed by AR technology presents the terrain and landscape in a three-dimensional manner, and realistically displays the original tourism resources of Guizhou.

Feng Jun, deputy general manager of China Unicom's Guizhou branch, said in an interview that Guizhou Unicom will rely on China Unicom's big data business advantage to actively incubate relevant 5G application demonstration projects, and strive to start 5G commercial network construction by the end of 2019, enabling Guizhou users to take the lead.
