IP Camera and DVR Reference Design (TI)

Texas Instruments (TI) today announced the availability of two comprehensive and comprehensive low-cost reference designs for IP cameras and digital video recorders (DVRs) to meet the needs of security system designers to create advanced surveillance products with less resources. These reference designs are powered by the new TMS320DM365 digital media processor based on DaVinciTM technology, which provides HD H.264 advanced, main or basic class specifications with triple video streaming support (D1, resolution 720p) The frame rate is 30 fps, or 1080p at lower frame rates. These reference designs also benefit from TI's fifth-generation image signal processing (ISP) solutions that support video stabilization, face detection, and other video quality enhancement technologies. In addition, the DVR reference design includes a new TVP5158 video decoder that captures multi-channel video inputs with the latest advanced features such as automatic contrast and video noise filtering for higher video quality.

The reference design enables extremely low electronics material costs, with IP cameras less than $40 and DVRs less than $60, and a comprehensive companion analog IC from power management to interface devices, enabling customers to quickly create such things as Cost-sensitive products such as IP cameras, IP modules in CCTV cameras, Digital Video Server (DVS), DVS, and Network Video Recorder (DVR) enable development work from 160 months of work (10 engineers work 10 Month) sharply reduced to 4 months working hours.

Key Features and Benefits of the IP Camera Reference Design • Based on the DM365 digital media processor, HD H.264 advanced, main class or base class specification with triple video streaming capability (D1, frame rate of 30 fps at 720p resolution, or 1080p at lower frame rate);
• The integrated 300 MHz ARM926EJ-STM core delivers video encoding/decoding tasks to the integrated HD video accelerator for optimal system performance;
• Comprehensive multi-codec support (H.264, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, MJPEG, and VC1 codecs) allows designers to achieve high design flexibility and ensure compatibility with legacy codecs Compatible, reducing design difficulty and speeding up the time to market;
• TI's fifth-generation on-chip ISP solution enables customers to achieve high-quality images without the need to create custom algorithms internally or purchase expensive optics. It has many excellent features such as video stabilization, face detection, noise filtering, auto white balance, auto focus, auto exposure and edge enhancement, which not only achieve image enhancement, but also significantly improve the intelligent level of video processing;
• Integrated hardware connector for seamless connection to the ObjectVideo® video analysis daughter card based on the TMS320DM643x digital media processor;
• IP-based camera applications based on royalty-free Linux, including source code for users to implement dedicated customization and segmentation;
• Developed in partnership with Appro Photoelectron Inc and supplied through the company.

Key Features and Benefits of the DVR Reference Design • In addition to the DM365 processor, the DVR reference design also includes TI's new multi-channel video decoder TVP5158 with highly flexible video output, eliminating the need for an external multiplexed FPGA solution Trouble, but can also significantly reduce system costs;
• The DM365 processor can simultaneously perform recording, playback, live view, storage, video stream generation and playback, eliminating the need for additional host processors, resulting in significant cost and development time savings;
• Multi-channel support with 2 D1 or 8 CIF channels;
• Includes Windows PC-based video management software;
• DVR applications based on royalty-free Linux contain source code that allows users to implement specialized customization and segmentation;
• Developed in cooperation with UD Works and supplied through the company.

Pricing, Availability and Technical Support Both reference designs are currently accepting orders, with IP camera reference designs now available through Appro Photoelectron Inc.; DVR reference designs can be ordered through UD Works.
