VR Assists Aviation Dreams, the First National College VR Flight Challenge Shanghai Station

VR Network learned that the first National High School Simulation Flight Championship and VR (Virtual Reality) Flight Challenge Competition in Shanghai was held at Tongji University. Zhou Pei from Tongji University won the championship with 1900 points and also participated in the December 24th. Beijing finals qualifications.

The competition is the first national competition for undergraduate simulation flight organized by the National Aeronautics and Sports Administration Aviation Radio Model Sports Management Center and China Aviation Sport Association. The competition set up two groups of professional teams and VR flight groups. The professional group competition will hold preliminary competitions in the current 16 aviation professional colleges in China. The VR Flight Team used the simulation flight software under the independently developed VR environment to conduct pre-qualification tournaments in more than 20 colleges and universities in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Tianjin and Beijing. In the Shanghai station competition, hundreds of flying enthusiasts from Tongji University and Fudan University participated in the competition.

Liu Xiao, deputy director of the Air Traffic Management Center, said that aerospace and virtual reality are the hot spots of current technology and innovation. When virtual reality meets aerospace, it is hoped that this competition will not only allow more young people with aviation dreams to experience true flight experience. To promote the popularization of aviation and VR knowledge, it can also serve college virtual reality research and teaching services, promote the application of virtual reality technology in the field of aviation sports, and build a platform for production, learning, research, and use of bridges in various fields.

The competition is also supported by China's virtual reality and visual industry technology innovation strategic alliances, as well as companies such as Dell within the Alliance. They will provide technical guidance for the development of simulated flight projects and industrial upgrading. Lin Hao, deputy director of the Alliance and deputy director of Dell, said that he hopes that the competition will enable more students to understand the development of high-tech such as aviation and VR, and feel the opportunities and challenges they will face in the next decade.

Simulated flight is a national official sports program that was formally approved by the State Sports General Administration in 2006 and is in charge of the Air Traffic Control Center and China Aviation Sports Association. Its essence is the application of virtual reality technology in flight training and air control training. It is one of the earliest industrial applications of virtual reality. The Ministry of Education recently requested the construction of demonstration virtual simulation experimental teaching projects in universities to create favorable conditions for the development of simulated flight projects in universities.
