Overview: As a new light source in the 21st century, semiconductor lighting has the advantages of energy saving, environmental protection, long life and easy maintenance. It is an irresistible trend to replace traditional lighting sources such as incandescent lamps and fluorescent lamps with high-power high-brightness light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Due to the characteristics of the LED itself, it must be powered by a constant current source. Therefore, the design of high efficiency constant current driving power supply has become an important research object in LED applications. The half-bridge LLC resonant converter is the best choice for medium power switching power supplies and is typically used in constant voltage output applications. Aiming at the DC/DC part of the high-efficiency constant current power supply for LED driving, a new design method suitable for a wide range of output is proposed, and the design flow is given, and the influence on design parameters and high efficiency optimization are analyzed. At the same time, according to the design principle, a 140 W half-bridge LLC converter prototype was built. After parameter optimization, its efficiency in the whole output voltage range is above 95.5%. The experimental results verify that the half-bridge LLC can be a good topological choice for LED drivers, achieving high efficiency over the full load range.
