Lisbon establishes non-independent 5G network specification chip manufacturers start to develop 5G hardware products

The world is calling for the 5G era, and many equipment manufacturers and operators are actively developing 5G products. However, products without the 5G standard are not recognized. Finally, a consensus was reached on the non-independent 5G network specification in Lisbon, Portugal, which means that the first 5G standard has been officially released.

According to foreign media reports, operators such as AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile have been vigorously promoting the development of 5G networks, and the goal was set in 2019. But even though the 5G network pilot program is being carried out around the world, no one knows who is the right standard. But soon this situation is about to change. 3GPP has just reached a consensus on non-independent 5G network specifications at a meeting in Lisbon, Portugal, which means that the first 5G standard has been officially released.

With a unified specification, vendors and hardware manufacturers can bring a true 5G network experience to consumers. It is reported that the specification stipulates that 5G networks should support frequency bands including low frequency (600MHz, 700MHz), intermediate frequency (3.5GHz) and high frequency (50GHz). Later in the week, 3GPP will announce specific 5G network specification details.

At present, operators including AT&T hope to complete the implementation of the new standard by the end of the year, and chip manufacturers can already start to develop hardware products compatible with 5G networks for the new standard. Next, 3GPP members will try to determine how to replace the existing 4G LTE network specification with an independent 5G network.
