DirectX ARM Announces New Generation of Mali Embedded GPUs

DirectX ARM Announces New Generation of Mali Embedded GPUs At the ARM Technology Conference recently held, ARM released its fourth-generation embedded GPU design, the Mali-T604, which claims to have five times the performance of its predecessor.

The Mali-T604 uses a newly designed "tri-pipe" three-pipeline architecture that can be configured as one to four shader cores. Vendors can configure their own L2 cache (32KB per core recommended). The built-in MMU memory management unit supports virtualization. Memory. Supports 4x/16x full-screen antialiasing and supports AMBA AXI and AMBA4 bus interfaces.

For API support, Mali-T604 adds support for OpenCL 1.1/1.2 and DirectX based on OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0 and OpenVG 1.1. With regard to OpenCL support, ARM stated that both its ARMv7 CPU core and GPU support OpenCL 1.1, and are ready for heterogeneous parallel computing of GPU general-purpose computing and CPU+GPU. As for DirectX support, it is full of imagination, is it possible that the ARM version of Windows will really appear?

The Mali-T604 can be used in smart phones, tablet computers, digital televisions, car entertainment systems, etc. It is currently open for licensing. Samsung has confirmed to be the first company authorized by Mali-T604.
