Molex confirmed its participation in the Cisco® Digital Ceiling Partner Community, which was held for the first time at the CiscoLive! show in Berlin on February 17. Molex, the developer of the TranscendTM network-connected LED lighting system, announced in November 2015 that it has reached a solution technology collaboration relationship with Cisco. As a member of the Digital Ceiling Partner Community, Molex actively assists customers with digital ceilings to help transform the digital transformation of buildings.

Cisco and its 15 founding digital ceiling partner companies are accelerating the digital ceiling deployment process, starting with indoor lighting powered by Cisco's high-security network infrastructure. This scalable, repeatable, and implantable frame is ideal for commercial lighting, with Cisco's proven design and documented solution architecture. It can be applied to many places such as commercial buildings, educational facilities, medical institutions, and manufacturing and storage facilities.

As part of this digital ceiling frame, Molex works with LED lighting partner companies to provide Transcend network-connected LED lighting systems. Transcend is an intelligent low-voltage network system that provides both power and control for LED luminaires and other devices.

New England Institute of Technology's Chief Information Officer Jacques Laflamme said: "The New England Institute of Technology is very excited about the ability to pilot Molex and Cisco's Power over Ethernet LED lighting technology in our main campus building. This effort will be in the future. A day-to-day "school-wide" Internet of Things that enhances the student experience through technology taught by New England Institute of Technology."

Tony Shakib, vice president of Cisco Internet of Things Vertical Solutions Group, said: "Cisco is very happy to work with Molex and other innovators in the lighting industry to create this digital ceiling framework. By using a network to power lighting and add sensors, digital ceilings The partner community can help bring the Internet of Things to life in the enterprise. Migrate lighting to the network and add smart sensors to connect to various building systems that are also migrating to IP networks. The generated data can be used to provide a high degree of personality User experience."

Molex's products extend the network of Cisco Catalyst Power over Ethernet network switches to LED lighting from leading lighting vendors, wherever possible, using standard IP structured cabling or wireless connectivity.

Mike Picini, vice president of solid-state lighting at Molex, said: "In the development of new LED solutions, architects, lighting designers, building developers and owners will be able to improve energy efficiency, lighting control through proven integration methods. Personal productivity and staff comfort. Controlled LED lighting systems can reduce energy costs by 50% or more. We are proud to be part of Cisco's innovative partner-focused initiative, which will be Commercial lighting has a huge impact."
