South Korea's top 10 IC design companies perform in 3Q operations in contrast

According to South Korea ’s Foreign Telecommunications Report, South Korea ’s SiliconWorks, Fidelix, EMLSI, CoreLogic, SiliconFile, Telechips, TLI, Nextchip, I & CTechnology, MtekVision and other top 10 South Korean major semiconductor design companies in the third quarter revenue totaled 226.2 billion won (about NT $ 5.939 billion) Yuan), an increase of 9.1% compared with the total revenue of 204 billion won in the same period of 2010, showing that the performance of the semiconductor design industry in South Korea has gradually improved.

Among the top 10 semiconductor design companies, Fidelix, EMLSI, CoreLogic and other three revenues have increased significantly compared with 2010. CoreLogic's operating profit in the third quarter of 2010 was negative 3.2 billion won, but in the third quarter of 2011, it successfully turned into a profit, with an operating profit of 3.5 billion won.

SiliconWorks is committed to the development of semiconductors for liquid crystal displays such as timing controllers (TImingController). Revenue increased by 15.4% compared with the same period in 2010, reaching 80.2 billion won, becoming the leading semiconductor design company in South Korea. However, due to the stagnation of the panel, the operating profit is higher than that of 2010. The year-on-year decrease was 52.7%.

Fidelix's existing mobile phone DRAM revenue performance is excellent, and NORFlash and other new business revenues have reached a single-quarter revenue record of 29.5 billion won, and operating profit has surged 260% to 1.8 billion won over the same period in 2010.

CoreLogic successfully transformed its main business from mobile phone chips to general consumer device chips. Revenue increased by 227.1% from the same period in 2010 to 15.7 billion won. CSiliconFile also converted its main product 300,000 pixel image sensor to 2 million pixel image sensor The operating profit increased by 99.8% to 900 million won over the same period in 2011, improving the business revenue structure.

In contrast, three companies including TLI, I & C Technology, and MtekVision encountered difficulties in their main businesses in the third quarter of 2011, and their revenues fell sharply.

TLI and Telechips both suffered 300 million won in operating losses, while MtekVision suffered 4.6 billion won in operating losses, which was an increase in the operating profit deficit from 1.9 billion won in the same period in 2010. Nextchip's revenue and operating profit were 11.9 billion won and 700 million won, respectively, a decrease of 7.4% and 77.8% compared to the same period in 2010.
