The 6-inch wafers produced by Rubicon's new Malaysian plant have been certified by a major customer in June 2011 and have also successfully completed ISO verification audits.
An agency pointed out that the proportion of LEDs using 6-inch sapphire substrates will climb to 16% in 2012 and further climb to over 55% in 2015. In addition, several LED manufacturers have begun to develop 8-inch wafers.
